Biography
Following a background in teaching and lecturing, Laura Minogue spent three years as a Learning Development Lecturer working with students from Level 4 to postgraduate before becoming Senior Lecturer in Academic Practice in March 2019. Sheis now Programme Lead for the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice at St Mary’s University Twickenham and co-ordinates the HEA Fellowship programme. She is currently working on a part time PhD investigating authorial identity in academic writing witha particular focus on Level 4 students in their transition to university.
How can I support Learning Developers?
Research – I’ve successfully bid for £500 from ALDinHE which I used to run a small research project to evaluate the effectiveness of Learning Development in my institution; Further study – discussions re relevance/value of undertaking masters and PhD; Scholarly literature – recommendations for wider academic reading especially academic writing and academic literacies.
