Welcome to ALDCon26

This year, our focus is on advocacy, embedding and impact in Learning Development. Across keynotes, panels, papers and workshops, we will explore how Learning Developers position themselves as strategic partners within higher education — shaping curricula, influencing institutional priorities, and evidencing value in our evolving landscape.

The programme brings together over 90 sessions, delivered by more than 170 presenters from 70+ universities and higher education institutions across the UK and internationally. The breadth of perspectives reflects the richness, diversity and growing influence of Learning Development as a field.

We are delighted to open the conference with our online keynote from Dr Mark Bassett and Dr Lucy Macnaught (Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand): Demonstrating our value: Researching the impacts of embedded academic literacy. Their keynote challenges us to strengthen the evidence base for embedding and to design research that speaks not only to our community, but to senior leaders and decision‑makers.

Our in‑person programme continues this conversation through a Leeds‑hosted panel on embedding; mini‑keynotes on communication; and one‑to‑one practice; and a wide range of sessions addressing discipline‑specific interventions, inclusive practice, digital innovation, and critical engagement with generative AI.

ALDCon26 also celebrates the creative and relational heart of our profession. Throughout the conference, our Playful Activity Hub alongside online collaborative activities offers space for reflection, experimentation and connection, culminating in shared highlights and prizes in our closing session.

This conference belongs to you, your insights, questions and conversations will shape our collective learning.

We look forward to welcoming you.
