Teacher Vocal Behaviour and its Impact on Learning
Biography
I am a professional musician and vocal teacher, a graduate of Uzbek State Conservatoire and a former opera singer. I worked in the National Opera House for 17 years. I started working in Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) in 2012. Currently I am working as the Head of Culture and Creativity Centre which is a part of Student Support Services. The main task of this department is to create a supportive environment for students’ personal and professional development. I am responsible for organizing cultural and social projects for students and the staff.
In 2023 I graduated from MA in Learning and Teaching (MALT, WIUT). I conducted the research “Voice as a Primary Tool: Uzbekistan School Teachers’ Vocal Health Issues” to investigate the situation with the vocal health of primary and secondary school teachers in Uzbekistan. The collected data confirmed that teachers’ voice problems are relevant in the country. This supports the conclusion of numerous researchers who claim that the teachers are at the highest risk of obtaining voice disorders.
My present research focuses on the significance of voice care for HE teachers and its influence on student learning. This can be enhanced through knowledge of how to maintain healthy vocal behaviour.
