Call for Assistant Editors: Join the JLDHE Editorial Board

JLDHE is looking for dedicated Assistant Editors to join our Editorial Board!

Are you passionate about advancing knowledge in Learning Development (LD) and Teaching and Learning (T&L) in higher education? Following our indexing in Scopus this year, the Editorial Board is expanding and we are seeking committed and reliable individuals who are motivated to contribute to the ongoing development of our field. While we welcome diverse perspectives including international colleagues and practitioners, our priority is finding team members who can offer consistent and reliable engagement.

The commitment:

Tenure: a 2-year term (with potential for extension) starting 1 August 2026.

Time: approximately 3 hours per week. This work is ongoing throughout the year and requires steady, weekly responsiveness.

Availability: attendance at monthly online editorial meetings (6pm BST/GMT on the first Wednesday of the month).

Timely communication with authors and reviewers is essential.

Key responsibilities:

Managing the peer-review process (reading submissions, assigning reviewers, and making timely editorial decisions).

Communicating clearly and reliably with authors, reviewers, and the editorial team.

Contributing to journal growth, special issues, and community promotion.

What we are looking for:

A genuine passion for LD and academic publishing, with expertise in T&L.

Strong analytical and communication skills, fluency in English, a keen eye for detail, and comfort with online publishing platforms.

High reliability and flexibility, and an ability to work independently while staying highly reachable within a collaborative team.

A commitment to research integrity and ethical publishing.

Some research and editorial experience will be an advantage.

Why join us?

While this is a voluntary role, it offers the opportunity to shape the direction of LD research, collaborate with a global network, and make a meaningful contribution to your field of practice.

How to apply:

JLDHE champions a diverse range of voices. If you are passionate about our mission and can commit the time, we encourage you to apply; we are dedicated to providing the mentorship and support you need to thrive.

We look forward to receiving your application. Please note that we currently have very limited capacity to respond to any informal inquiries.
