On the 15th of each month, we are inviting those working in the field of learning development to share their day. Write up what you have done on the 15th of the month (or your nearest working day to this date) (plus reflections) and share it with us via this short submission form. The entries will be shared here on the ALDinHE blog.
In 2010-11 and 2014-15, the ALDinHE website was previously used for a collective online journal by members of the LD community. The collective journal re-launched on the 15 May 2023. You can read the journal entries for each month. The shared experiences and ideas have helped shape CPD resources developed for new and experienced staff, and to identify other areas for future work.
A reminder will go out on the LDHEN list on the 15th of each month. Share your day by completing the short submission form for it to be added to the ALDinHE blog.

I am reflecting on my 13th of this month. As there was no student tutorial booking, I worked on the admin in the morning. I then realised some issue to do with the ticket booking for my off-campus trip two weeks later. While I haven’t got it resolved from the organisation with whom I have booked the ticket, it was good that I identified the problem early and put some contingency plan in place. I have been doing off-campus events on the termly basis for two years. Despite more and more experience being built up, it still takes lots of effort to arrange each in terms of logistics & communication, in addition to the content. This is probably because I normally organise something involving an external party(ies). However, all the positive feedback from students for each trip recognise the benefits of off-site to student experience and professional development.
I joined a staff development session about AI at 11am. In this session, I was led to use Firefly to generate some images and reflect on process and results.
In the afternoon I had my appraisal meeting, and it went well, with several objectives being set up. I then discussed with my colleague about two AI literacy workshops we are planning for January – the first one will be a seminar about AI and criticality and the second one will be a workshop about promoting with integrity and effectiveness.
It’s another busy day, but the weekend is in sight 😉
