I began working as a Senior Lecturer in Academic Development in Manchester Metropolitan University’s University Teaching Academy in January 2021. At MMU, I work in the UTA team delivering our PGCert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, our Masters in HE and am the institutional co-lead for our Advance HE Fellowship Recognition route. In this role, I apply my learning development principles when coaching and teaching our new academic members of staff at MMU.
Prior to this I worked as a teaching fellow and learning developer at Keele University from 2013-2021, where I helped to design and establish Keele’s 1:1 academic coaching service and learning development offer. I also delivered teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Keele University, offering curriculum design consultancy across Keele’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Science, while lecturing and module leading across Keele’s Masters in Higher Education Practice. During my time at Keele, I created and project led Keele’s annual JADE Student Learning Undergraduate Conference. In addition to CeLP, I hold SFHEA and CMALT status, whilst also standing as a member of the LearnHigher working group.

How can I help Learning Developers?
I have quite a broad range of practice and research interests and would happily collaborate/support fellow LD practitioners across the sector. I have a real passion for, and interest in, undergraduate research and have also conducted funded research into inclusive and universal design, international student transitions and academic writing and reading retreats (for both students and staff) alongside colleagues at Keele University. As noted above, at MMU I work as institutional co-lead for our Advance HE Fellowship scheme so, mentoring and assessing colleagues at various levels of Advance HE Fellowship, as well as holding CeLP and CMALT status. Therefore, I would be more than happy to assist colleagues looking towards these schemes too.
