I have been Head of Professional and Academic Development (encompassing writing, maths and study skills learning development) at the University of Bedfordshire since 2011. My responsibilities include co-ordination of extracurricular support (drop-in, workshops and appointments) and targeted academic skills teaching. Prior to this, I worked as a Learning Development Tutor for 5 years. I have a PhD, PFHEA status and am a Chartered Psychologist. I am Co-Chair of ALDinHE (since 2016) and Co-Chaired the ALDinHE Professional Development Working Group from 2015-2019. ALDinHE projects I have led include creating the CeP and CeLP recognition scheme, regional events and the expertise directory.
How can I help Learning Developers?
I am happy to share my managerial and practitioner experiences with colleagues. Likewise, I am able to support individuals who wish to apply for CeP or CeLP. I am keen to promote collaborations between educational associations that serve to support the varied development needs of individuals who work as Learning Development practitioners.
