Research and Scholarship Development Working Group

The Research and Scholarship Development working group is rapidly expanding its work to foster scholarship opportunities for members of the ALDinHE community. Whether you are interested in a helping hand to get your own scholarship project off the ground, or joining in our work to support others to do so, there is an Event for you at the July Fair.

RSDWG Chair and Vice-Chair drop-in (8 July, 11-12pm)

Would you like to do one or some of:

– Suggest and discuss ways in which ALDinHE can boost knowledge of and opportunities for scholarship among its members?
– Find out how we can support you to turn your research or scholarship idea into reality?
– Get involved in supporting others to carry out scholarship and research?
– Review grant applications for ALDinHE? (new reviewers needed, training and support provided)

For these and any other ideas/questions, you have the opportunity to drop in and meet the group chair (Ian Johnson) and vice-chair (Silvina Bishopp-Martin) on Wednesday 8 July, 11.00-12.00.

Reviewer training (Monday 20 July, 1.30-2.30pm)

Each year, ALDinHE funds several research projects investigating aspects of Learning Development’s theory, pedagogy and practice, and ways that we, as learning developers, can enhance students’ experiences.
The process of winning these funds is competitive and we rely on our pool of reviewers to help make the decisions. This year, we are looking to add more reviewers to the pool (if interested, please join the drop-in session for 1^st July advertised on the summer fair homepage, or email ian.johnson@port.ac.uk)
Although some previous reviewing experience is helpful, it is not essential as we offer full training on our review process, and can buddy you up with an experienced reviewer.
Please join us on Monday 20 July from 1.30-2.30pm for a training session to get you clued up on what we’re looking for in grant applications, and feeling review-ready.
