The Association for Academic Language and Learning (AALL) was formed in 2005, and since then has served as the professional body for academic language and learning educators working in higher and further education institutions in Australia. AALL members play a vital role in providing teaching, support and expertise to assist students in developing appropriate academic skills to enable them to succeed at their studies.
Our practice is remarkably diverse. We work on- and off-shore, on- and off-line, in centralised and discipline-specific units, and in university and technical and further education settings. We provide services that range from generic to discipline-specific embedded academic and professional skills, and contribute to policies, practices and research that build, enhance and extend teaching and learning opportunities for all students and staff in tertiary education settings.
Members of other ICALLD Associations enjoy reciprocal benefits that may include:
- Conference and event information;
- Member-rates at conferences and other events;
- Resources, best practice documents and policy information;
- Association journals and publications; and
- Opportunities for collaborative international research and networking.
As a member of another ICALLD Association, you will receive alerts on these opportunities through your home Association, and will ask you for evidence of current membership in cases where discounted rates apply.
