Newcastle University will be running a regional event on Tuesday 10th September entitled: “Developing the Developer: Evaluating our Practice and Impact.” We have included the draft programme below.

In this event we’d like to reflect on how we can best evaluate our practice as learning developers as well as the teaching we undertake and resources we create.

We welcome submissions for lightning talks (10 minutes) on strategies and approaches you currently take when evaluating practice as well as 1:1 provision, embedded teaching and resources. 

  • Closing date for bookings: 1st September 2024

Programme

09.00 – 10.00 Registration and tea/coffee

10.00 – 10.20: Introduction and welcome from Liv Jonassen

10.20 – 11.00: Discussion 1: How do we evaluate our own practice? (small group discussion building into a whole group discussion)

11.00 – 11.20: Tea/coffee

11.20 – 12.00: Discussion 2: How do we evaluate our service and measure impact?

12.00 – 13.00: Lunch

13.00 – 14.00:  Lightning Talks

14.00 – 14.20: Tea/coffee

14.20 – 15.00: Closing discussion and takeaways, including reflection on the lightning talks

15.00 – 15.30: Social networking opportunity: quiz

15.30: Closing

How to get to the venue

Parking and support for disabled parking
We are unable to offer parking on campus. However, we do have a limited number of spaces for visitors with mobility issues. For further information please contact academicskills@newcastle.ac.uk.

If you have reserved on-campus parking (via a member of staff) or are arriving by taxi, use the entrance on Claremont Road. The taxi drop-off point is on King’s Road.”

What refreshments will be provided?

  • A buffet lunch will be provided.
  • Tea/coffee provided throughout the day.
  • There is a cafe which is open from 9-3 pm, there are also several water fountains near the collaborative space.
