This guide offers practical advice for creating empowering processes in collaborative sustainability-related projects, with a focus on local cross-institutional collaborations. We use reflections based on a project run by like-minded colleagues based at University College London (UCL)’s East campus and those at Queen Mary University London (QMUL). We explored how equity issues can be addressed through community-based learning and teaching (CBLT) approaches to Educational for Sustainability (ESD). The following tips emphasise building networks across institutions based in proximity, fostering shared goals, and leveraging community partnerships to drive sustainable change. We’ve developed these tips to help others meaningfully integrate ESD projects across institutions, enhancing both local and global sustainability priorities through collective action and shared responsibility.
