Research Title:
An exploration of doctoral supervisor/supervisee collaborative inquiries for EDI
Academic Publications:
V2 draft of article for JLDHE is prepared and just being peer reviewed by a colleague and will then be submitted. This is about the practical responses to diversity including details of the practitioner inquiries which one include as a case study in the appendix.
1. I plan to write a second article for Studies in Graduate and Postgraduate Education. This is more around the perceptions of EDI, training around EDI and perceptions of non-traditional. It will be more theoritical.
2. We did the LR as a systematic review of 145 items and the first article for JLDHE only cover the 25 which focused on strategies. The LR could standalone, as we created a framework. Waiting to see what the peer reviewer thinks of how to dice/slice it
Conference:
Abstract accepted for ALDCon25.
Slides from CSPACE Conference 2024 available here: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/385311700_An_exploration_of_how_doctoral_supervisors_and_candidates_are_responding_to_diversity_in_the_candidate_profile_and_identity_characteristics_or_EDI
Further Research Funding:
I have requested some further internal funding (Research Culture) to explore experiences of PT EdD candidates who are external to the university.
Blogs / Podcasts:
Internal blog post about the literature review available here: https://www.bcu.ac.uk/research/education-and-social-work/cspace-blog/an-exploration-of-doctoral-supervisor-and-candidate-collaborative-inquiries-for-equality-diversity-and-inclusion
Blog published about the literature review on Supervising PhDs blog available here: https://supervisingphds.wordpress.com/2025/02/05/responding-to-diversity-in-the-candidate-profile/
I will write something for ALDinHE blog post.
LearnHigher:
I am creating the Teaching and Learning Resource which will include 10 case studies of the practitioner inquiries. I have made a template and have 5 of these from the data and 5 will come from other sources.
Other:
The CoP programme is going through re-accreditation and the resource will feed into this and supervisor development sessions at the university.
I do plan to undertake a follow on research project from this. Just waiting to see what that will be.
