Biography

I am a Writing Skills Officer in the University of Southampton’s Academic Skills Service. I’m passionate about developing engaging activities as well as asynchronous resources to support students with their academic writing, whether that means demystifying the writing process, getting to grips with structure, or tackling the dissertation. My strategic focus is empowering learners traditionally underrepresented in higher education.

How can I help learning developers?

I would love to chat about the application of creative writing principles and practices to academic writing contexts; UDL (universal design for learning); embedding academic skills in the curriculum; transition to HE; asynchronous resource design (including video production); widening participation and social mobility; writing anxiety, block, and procrastination; and words in general!
