I am a Learning Development Advisor for the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Plymouth, former co-chair of LearnHigher (ALDinHE), and chief Editor for The Plymouth Student Scientist e-journal supporting undergraduate research practice. Experienced in further and higher education contexts from business studies to science. I am qualified to PhD level (Analytical Chemistry). Previous roles include Associate Lecturer, Learning Technologist and working as the lead designer and developer on one of the first online marine distance learning programmes: The Hydrographic Academy (sponsored by: HE STEM, Royal Navy and Fugro), now the Marine Learning Alliance College.
How can I help learning developers?
Having been a Learning Development Advisor since 2014 working across multiple disciplines that include the arts and humanities, health, business and now sciences, I feel my experiences can be most helpful to those getting started with:
- Supporting STEM subjects as Learning Developers (LDs).
- Running a STEM undergraduate journal.
- Using learning technologies in education.
- Learning about LearnHigher and how to submit their own digital learning resources to share with the wider LD community.
