Biography

Sam has been a Learning Development tutor at the University of Northampton since 2018. Prior to this, she gained several years’ experience as an EAP lecturer in higher education, and taught English as a Foreign Language to teenagers and adults in F.E. colleges, the community, and the workplace.  She is an ALDinHE Certified Practitioner and a Fellow of AdvanceHE.  Her recent research has focussed on understanding the GEM (Global Ethnic Majority) awarding gap by exploring student non-submission of summative assignments and the impact of the assignment brief on student attainment.

How can I help learning developers?

I am happy to contribute to discussions surrounding developing academic writing and engaging students to promote widening participation.
