Biography

“I am a Learning Development Tutor, within the School of Law, at Birkbeck University, where I have worked since 2018, supporting the development of students’ academic literacies and study skills. My main teaching interests relate to critical thinking, pedagogy, and academic writing. During the summer period, I teach academic English at Royal Holloway University and have also worked as a Writing Fellow at Boston University. Prior to this, I taught in schools across London and Cambridge (apart from a short spell as a trainee solicitor). I have also taught EFL and currently volunteer as an ESOL tutor for LEAH (Learn English At Home). Such experiences enrich and underpin my practice as a learning developer.   I am an FHEA and have a Master of Education (Cambridge), PGCE (Southampton), LPC/GDL (University of Law), and CELTA qualification. Outside work, I enjoy learning new skills (of course!) my most recent being courses in printmaking, calligraphy, and fiction writing; and exploring new cafes and bookshops in London. I can offer support for early career learning developers who are trying to find their feet.  “
