  • A flexible resource that supports learners to assess their current employability skills. Focus is given to a number of developmental areas that employers review and assess as part of a recruitment and selection processes.
  • Students work through the questions on the assessment rating their level of competence. As they do this it is crucial to their own development that they fully reflect upon their findings. Each question on the form asks the learner to provide evidence of how they can demonstrate that they have attained a specific employability skill. The learners are prompted to use the STAR model to demonstrate their competence. This model allows for critical reflection and action evidence that can be drawn upon as students prepare for moving into the work place or further student.

  • This resource is flexible it can be used during a group workshop, in a one to one support session or by learners working on their own.
  • The resource provides learners with a framework for reflection upon their skills and a useful tool that supports students to identify skills gaps that they can then decide to address. The tool also allows individuals to identify with their own professional development and understanding of how they promote themselves as potential employees as well as future funder’s or to academics to gain acceptance for further study.

To acknowledge the skill employers are looking for in new employees in the workplace. Learners will identify their personal employability skill level and critically reflect upon how they can provide evidence that they have gained employability skills from their life and learning experiences.
