Biography

I am an Academic Skills Advisor at Edge Hill University, where I deliver academic writing support through embedded teaching sessions, workshops, webinars, and 1-1s. I have been supporting students in Higher Education institutions for 23 years, including 15 years of mentoring students with a range of complex mental health needs and disabilities throughout their time at university. I am the Student Engagement Team’s lead on Inclusive and Accessible practice, and an active member of the university’s Accessibility Network.

How can I help learning developers?

I have a strong interest in developing inclusive and accessible resources, and have recently developed a range of interactive toolkits for both students and staff. My other interests include Academic Resilience and how early interventions can benefit students. I am especially passionate about Academic Integrity and engaging students to approach this topic in a positive manner. I also developed our ‘Returning to Learning’ Community of Practice as a safe space for students getting back into education after a break from study. I am happy to discuss any of these topics, and also share my own LD experiences with others.
