With ten years experience as a Specialist Study Skills tutor (SpLD) in Higher Education, I have acquired Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Certificate in Executive Function Coaching (I have developed a six-week programme called ‘STRIVE Executive Function coaching’ course), Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Coaching, and CeP (Certified Education Professional). I have an educational background in Biology (BSc Hons), which gives me an experiemental approach to learning development and recently I have explored game design (playful learning) and created a card game to help students with presentation skills. Comedy theatre is something which can be used to help students, and with this in mind, Improv is a skill which I am encouraging students to develop, and I have created a six week introductory workshop, called ‘SWIFT’ Improv, to inform participants and allow them the opportunity to have a go themselves. I also have an interest in the emotional repecussions of a dyslexia SpLD diagnosis, besides being a holder of a Mental Health First Aid qualification.
