Biography

Helen has worked as a Learning Developer since 2006, when she was head of the Learning Development Service at UEA. She went on to work on learning development projects at Cambridge University and was also head of the Writing Development Centre at Newcastle University. She is now Educational Development Consultant at Oxford University, developing CPD opportunities and consultancy for those in colleges and faculties working in LD roles or academic colleagues wanting to embed academic skills into the curriculum.

How can I help learning developers?

Helen’s interests include developing an evidence- and theory- informed practice base for Learning Development, especially the pedagogy of 1-2-1 work and workshop design and delivery, and the professionalisation of LD work. She is a National Teaching Fellow, SFHEA and CeLP, and blogs about Learning Development as @Scholastic_Rat.
