This event is free to members (log in for member rate). £50 for non-members.

This one-day in-person event will consider leadership through its widest definition in and beyond Learning Development by identifying how the notion of leadership is applied across the sector. It aims to foster meaningful connections during and after the event, or at least reassure that we are all in the same boat!

This event is relevant for those who are managing teams, leading projects, involved in wider university strategy and initiatives, or engaged with wider communities of practice. As well as those currently working within Learning Development, we also welcome those who might have an interest in this area. The day is intended to be thought-provoking, considering questions including but not limited to:

  • What does leadership mean to you as someone within or interested in Learning Development?
  • What would you like from leadership, or what would you like to avoid? How can you contribute to that?
  • How do you make a positive impact as a leader in Learning Development or a related third space role (e.g., through projects, teams, and strategy)?
  • What is the broader understanding of ‘progression’ in your role and how is this supported (e.g., developing research, leading strategic projects, career development)?
  • What do you foresee as challenges (positive or negative!) for leadership within Learning Development as a third space? How will you navigate these?
  • What are the challenges you face as a leader to a team of individuals working in Learner Development and, if relevant, how have you overcome them? (e.g., navigating strategic vs individual requirements/desires, external awareness).

The day will be structured to foster sharing and discussion.
