Meeting the academic needs of the ever-changing study body is key to a student’s attainment and retention. While universities in the United Kingdom offer a range of academic ‘support services’ it has been shown that embedded support is the most effective way of delivery (Wyatt, 2011). Academic support services, in our context, refers to Academic Librarian and Learning Development teams. If this support is embedded into the programme, students are more likely to successfully engage with ‘support services’ and improve their academic outcome (Coulson et al., 2021).

This LD@3 will critically reflect on how the Academic Librarian and Learning Development teams working together not only enhances the student experience and quality of delivery, but also the collaboration between and across teams. Reflecting on this critical friend relationship, we will share both the good and bad experiences we’ve had and how this developed into the enhanced student journey. It will then open to the room for a discussion on how to continue to develop and enhance the collaboration between the Academic Librarian and Learning Development teams.
