Recruiting for Copyeditors at JLDHE

Dear Colleagues, 

We would be pleased to receive applications for the role of copyeditor with the Journal of Learning Development in Higher Education. If you know someone who might be interested and suitable, please pass this message on. 

JLDHE was established in 2009 and is published online https://journal.aldinhe.ac.uk. We are looking for two new copyeditors to support our operations and maintain high quality of our publications. The role involves proofreading and formatting draft manuscripts for the journal as well as compiling queries for authors to address when finalising their papers. The work is periodic during the year and is paid at an hourly rate (currently £25). It requires working to tight deadlines and offers exciting opportunities to contribute to scholarship in our growing field of HE. 

To apply for the role, you must:

•have exceptional attention to detail and high standards of quality;•be proficient in MS Word and able to work effectively online and with web-based tools;•have excellent English language and communication skills;

•be able to follow strict guidelines regarding style and text formatting;

•have experience of proofreading or copyediting academic texts, reports or publications;

•be passionate about learning and teaching and committed to encouraging high quality academic research and publications in the field of learning development. 

Expressions of interest for the role will be accepted until EOD Thursday, 18 April 2024. Please send a recent CV and letter of application explaining how you meet the criteria to alicja.syska@plymouth.ac.uk

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to proofread and format a sample 3,000-word submission (plus references) to align it with the JLDHE house style guidelines, and to prepare a list of queries for the author.
