This one day conference took place on  28th January 2014 at London Metropolitan University.  Taking inspiration from a number of recent initiatives, some 50 delegates from 14 universities explored how different kinds of visual tasks can be embedded in classrooms, tutorials and online environments across the disciplines. One: John On Monday June 11th we ‘met’ via our computers for a trial run using ‘Flashmeeting’, the online meeting tool we would be using for an ‘experimental online writing retreat’. Martin Sedgley from Bradford University, Tracey White from Middlesex, Joe Allison from Plymouth and me. Over 40 delegates from as far away as Canterbury and Edinburgh gathered at the University of Leicester on 22nd June for a day of discussion and sharing ideas on what embedding means to us and how we can do it more effectively.The day was opened by Dr Mark Rawlinson (Academic Director of Leicester’s College of Arts, Humanities and Law) who made an engaging speech proposing embedding as a means of facilitating a review of the curricula with a focus on a […]

A big thank you to Ellen Pope at Aston for organising the venue and delicious lunch and for hosting and supporting the event throughout. Positive comments were made about the central location in Birmingham which was easily accessible from both the north and south of the country. We had a total of 41 attendees including presenters from as far afield as Falmouth and Ulster. Of the 41 attendees, 27 were in Learning Development and Study Advice roles, and 9 were Disability Advisors or Dyslexia Tutors, with the rest being a mixture of Lecturers, Careers Advisors and Mentors.
